Davao de Oro – Three frontliners in Davao de Oro contracted Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19).
The provincial government announced this on social media as the results of the latest swab test for frontliners came out Thursday afternoon. The post also emphasized that testing for COVID-19 is regularly done by the province for the frontliners.
The confirmed patients were immediately isolated after the provincial government received the results.
According to the province, one of the patients is a female nurse of the Provincial Health Office, who is currently residing in her parents’ house in Montevista town.
The report stated that the nurse went to the Land Transportation Office (LTO) in Nabunturan the morning the results came out to acquire driver’s license.
Upon knowing this, the provincial government and the municipal government of Nabunturan informed the LTO of the situation.
In a statement posted on social media, the LTO announced temporary suspension of work until August 16, 2020 as the employees will undergo quarantine, and the office will be disinfected and sanitized.
The second frontliner-patient is a female medical technologist of the provincial government, who is currently staying in a boarding house in Tagum City, Davao del Norte.
While, the third patient is a male driver of the Provincial Health Office residing in Nabunturan.
During the contact tracing, it was found out that one of the family members of the driver has an ongoing health condition. The task force is now investigating if the illness is COVID-19 related.As these cases unfold, Governor Jayvee Tyron Uy asked the public to continuously pray for the frontliners as they are among the most vulnerable sector against the disease.
“Ang atong mga frontliners ang kanunay nga naga-atubang sa peligro nga dala sa COVID-19. Sila sab ang pinaka vulnerable sa maong sakit. Dili lalim kini nga sakit, pero kaya nato ni pildihon. We will #EndCovidTogether!”
The governor also reminded the public not to discriminate the frontliners as this will be in violation of Provincial Ordinance No. 68, series of 2020.
“Dili usab kita kapuyon sa pagpahinumdum sa minimum health standards nga kinahanglan i-obserba sa tanan,” he reiterated.
With the new cases, the Provincial Capitol will undergo massive disinfection on July 30-31, 2020.
As of July 30, 2020 10:00 PM, Davao de Oro has 59 active confirmed cases, 30 suspected and 15 probable cases, 33 recoveries, and one death on COVID-19. (Michael Uy)
