1,383 Surigaonons screened for TB; CHO gives free X-ray

Surigao City – In partnership with the Department of Health, The Philippine Business for Social Progress, and Maranao People Development Incorporated (MARADECA), the City Health Office led free Tuberculosis Screening and radiography (x-ray imaging) in 20 Barangays of Surigao City.

Residents of Brgy. Togbongon and Brgy. San Roque was given free chest x-rays and consultation services, last March 21, 2023, during the last day of the program.

A total of 1,383 residents were screened out of 20 Barangays in Surigao City during the free program which started last March 8, 2023.

This program aims to provide immediate action and solutions to help residents experiencing symptoms and decrease the number of TB cases in the city.

The total number of TB cases identified during the whole program is confidential to protect the privacy of each patient.

The patients will receive medical assistance such as medical treatments, laboratory exams, follow-up check-ups, informational seminars, and medical advice to help them fight against TB disease.

Maradeca Field Coordinators Omikalsum Ameroding, Mohamad Fadel Fayez, Mohamad Manalondong, Mohaysen Hadji Abdulbasit, and CHO Nurse Jessica Nepumuceno were also present during the last day of the program last March 21.
