11 FORMER REBELS RECEIVING THE E-CĹIP FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE YESTERDAY AT THE PROVINCIAL CAPITOL OF SURIGAO DEL NORTE

The eleven (11) Former Members of New People’s Army received a total of Two Million One Hundred Sixty One Thousand Eight Hundred (₱ 2,161,800) for turned in firearms during the awarding ceremony held at the Provincial Governor’s Conference Room, Surigao City on Wednesday, April 13,2021.

The Former Rebels were enrolled under the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP) of the government jointly facilitated by 30th Infantry (Fight On) Battalion Philippine Army and Provincial Government of Surigao del Norte.

During the cost evaluation of firearms a total of thirteen (13) high-powered firearms surrendered which includes one (1) M4, one (1) M1 Garand, four (4) M16 Rifle, one (1) AK47, three (3) Grenade Launcher, one (1). 30 Cal, two (2) KG9 with a total cost of ₱ 2,161,800. The said firearms were properly turned over to Governor Francisco ‘Lalo’ Matugas, the Provincial Governor of Surigao del Norte who personally welcomed the former rebels in the community again.

Prior to the awarding, the eleven FR beneficiaries undergone orientation and received Sustainable Livelihood Seminars and Programs from the Department of Social Welfare and Development Office aimed to enable them to be economically granted thru infusing income-generating projects such as micro-enterprise or stable employment.

Each recipient also received Hygiene Kit and Relief goods from RDSWD CARAGA, Food Packs from DSWD, P50,000.00 cash for Livelihood Assistance, ₱ 15,000.00 for Immediate Assistance and scholarship programs from TESDA-Surigao del Norte.

In the statement of alyas Dante he said that, “SA NGALAN SA AKUNG MGA KAUBANAN NGA ANIA KARUN, KAMI NAGA PASALAMAT SA ATONG GOBYERNO SA UPORTUNIDAD INUBANAN SA PAGLAUM NGA GIHATAG KANAMU SA AMONG PAGBALIK ILALUM SA BALAOD DIHA SA PAGBAG-ONG KINABUHI NGA LAYO SA KASAMOK. KINING TANAN DILI MAMAHIMONG POSIBLE KUNG WALA ANG SENSIRO NGA PAGPATABANG KANAMU SA KASUNDALUHAN SA 30IB UG MGA AHENSIYA SA GOBYERNO. BUSA NANAWAGN KAMI SA AMONG KANHI NGA MGA KAUBANAN NGA MGA NPA NGA MUSSURENDER NA MENTRA SA DILI PA ULAHI ANG TANAN”. (On behalf of my comrades who are with me today, we would like to extend our gratitude to the government for giving us hope and opportunity as we returned to the folds of the law and start to build our new lives free from fear and conflicts. All of these could not be possible without the help of the 30IB and partners from LGUs and LGAs. With this, we encourage our former comrades to peacefully surrender before it’s too late.)

Moreover, Governor Matugas was grateful for the Former Rebels who chose to go back to the folds of law and said, “I am glad that our Former Rebels finally decided to go back and accepted our program for them. This is not yet done, we will continue to provide necessary services and assistance they need to start living a peaceful life.”

Lt Col Ryan Charles G Callanta, the Commanding Officer of 30IB said that “Our eleven surrenderee who decided to embrace a new life and to be reintegrated to the mainstream society are manifestations that our government together with the other agencies and private sectors are fully committed of working together to end the insurgency problem. Furthermore, we still encourage those who are still hiding in the mountains to take the chance and avail the government’s program thru the E-CLIP”. (RPN DXKS Surigao with 30IB)
