₱80-Million Worth Of Marijuana Destroyed In Kalinga

Tinglayan, Kalinga– More than ₱ 80-million worth of fully grown marijuana plants were successfully uprooted and destroyed by combined police operative and anti-narcotics agents during the conduct of  three-day aggressive marijuana eradication operation in mountainous areas in Tinglayan, Kalinga

Anti-narcotics operatives discovered and destroyed more or less 404,300 fully grown marijuana plants from different sites with a total area of 21,000 square meters in Mount Sumanchil with a Dangerous Drug Board (DDB) value of ₱ 80.86 million during the operation conducted August 16 to August18.

Police Regional Office (PRO) Cordillera headed by Director Brig. Gen. R’win Pagkalinawan described the latest operation as the biggest haul marijuana eradication conducted in Barangay Loccong, Tinglayan, Kalinga.

Most of the uprooted marijuana plants were destroyed on site while a portion of the same was taken by the combined police and anti-narcotics agents for evidentiary purposes.

According to reports in August 2016, Billions worth of marijuana plants were uprooted and destroyed at Mt. Sumanchil.

The marijuana eradication was conducted by joint operatives from the Kalinga Provincial Police Office, RMFB 15, 503rd Brigade Philippine Army, Criminal Investigation and Detection Group, Philippine Navy, National Bureau of Investigation-Region 2 and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency from Cordillera and Region 2.
