Tabuk City – An alleged marijuana transporter escaped from police and anti-narcotics agents manning a checkpoint but his vehicle loaded with marijuana bricks worth P37.3 million were confiscated by the operating troops at barangay Lacnog, here, Sunday.
Police Col. Davy Vicente Limmong, Provincial Director of the Kalinga Provincial Police Office, stated that they received an information from concerned citizens that a large volume of marijuana will be transported from the upland town of Tinglayan, Kalinga through Tabuk city that prompted them to establish a checkpoint.
While conducting the said checkpoint, law enforcers saw the alarmed vehicle approaching towards them but at around 200 meters from the checkpoint, the driver of the vehicle tried to evade the law enforcers and maneuvered towards the irrigation canal that caused the policemen and anti-narcotics agents to chase the vehicle.
However, the occupant of the vehicle was able to escape and fled towards unknown direction.
The suspect abandoned a Mitsubishi Adventure bearing license plate number NBZ-7232 loaded with 8 sacks containing 311 marijuana bricks weighing 311 kilos.
