Anti-drug operatives of the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) seized a total of ₱380,000 worth of suspected shabu from two suspects in separate buy-bust operations on Wednesday.

Around 9 p.m., suspect Anjelyn Ariola was arrested in Barangay Alijis during the raid conducted by personnel of the City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU).

Ariola, a former drug offender released from jail in 2016, sold ₱1,000 worth of the prohibited substance to an undercover policeman.

She yielded five elongated and six big sachets of shabu weighing about 35 grams with an estimated value of ₱360,000.

According to the CDEU, the operation against Ariola was the result of an earlier arrest of a suspect, who identified her as a supplier.

Ariola is now detained at Police Station 7 in neighboring Barangay Mansilingan.

Earlier on Wednesday, Joseph Calinao was arrested for selling ₱200 worth of shabu to a poseur-buyer during an operation at Purok Neptune, Barangay Singcang.

Calinao, 33, who is eighth on the drug watch list of Police Station 8, was also found in possession of four sachets of shabu with an estimated value of ₱20,000.

Cases for violation of Sections 5 and 11, Article II of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 will be filed against the suspects.

Senior Supt. Francisco Ebreo, acting city police director, commended the operating units for their continuous effort in the campaign against illegal drugs.

“These accomplishments are the result of the intensified campaign of the BCPO against all forms of criminality especially illegal drugs,” he added.* (Nanette Guadalquiver)
