Last June 8, 2022 around 8:00 AM, PLTCOL APOLLO B ABAO, Deputy PD for Administration (DPDA) duly assisted by PLTCOL TESSIEL R MOLETA, Provincial Community Affairs and Development Unit (PCADU) Officer conducted Heritage Tour (Educational Tour to the Historical Sites of Surigao City) in celebration of the 124th Philippine Independence Day with the theme: “KALAYAAN 2022: Pagsuong sa Hamon ng Panibagong Bukas”.
The Heritage Tour is in coordination with the Surigao City Tourism Office who provided experienced tour guide led by Paul Dexter A Patinga. Said activity was participated by PNP personnel, KKDAT Members and Criminology students of St Jude Thaddeus Institute of Technology (SJTIT) and Northeastern Mindanao Colleges (NEMCO).
Following are the Historical Sites being visited and short historical values and importance were explained at the site by the City Tourism personnel.
1- Japanese Crematorium @ Surigao del Norte
National High School
2- Philippine Flag Marker, 1st hoisting of Phil
Flag in Mindanao, in front of Surigao City Hall
3- Battle of Surigao Strait Museum, Brgy Punta
Bilar, Surigao City
The whole activity ended about 10:30AM of same date.
