The Zamboanga City Reformatory Center (ZCRC) has resumed accepting newly committed Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDL) after it was suspended due to the entry of Coronavirus Disease 2019 (Covid-19).
Jail/ Supt. Nathanel L. Aljas, City Jail Warden said, they started accepting newly committed PDL’s last July 1.
The jail warden explained to RPN DXXX, they receive 25 to 30 newly committed PDL’s by batches per quarantine period.
These PDL’s after commitment, are isolated for 14 days then, if they show no symptoms of Covid-19, they will now be integrated to the general PDL population inside the jail facility.
The last time the jail facility received new PDL’s was on March 13, 2020 days before the City was placed under Enhance Community Quarantine last March 20, 2020.
In Zamboanga City Jail alone, there are 3,040 male PDL’s detained at the said jail facility. (R.G. Antonet A. Go)
