ZCMC To Start COVID-19 Vaccination On Saturday

The Zamboanga City Medical Center (ZCMC)  http://www.zcmc.doh.gov.ph/   is eying to kick-off its Coronavirus Disease 2019 (Covid-19) vaccination program for ZCMC health workers on Saturday.

Dr. Shadrina Tahil – Sarapuddin, ZCMC Spokesperson said, they are expecting vaccines to arrive on Friday and vaccination proper will be done by Saturday.

They are expecting 10,000 vials of Sinovac good for 5000 vaccinees for their first and second dose. These vaccines were allocated for the entire region 9.

The spokesperson said, for ZCMC, they are targeting to vaccinate 1,500 of their health personnels.

Meanwhile, Dr. Afdal Kunting, Chief of Hospital said, they are now ready to be vaccinated and for those who refused they will continue to advocate the advantage of vaccination.

He said he will lead the group and is willing to be vaccinated first.

What will happen during the actual vaccination is health workers will come in at the screening area where they will be assessed by doctors asking how they are feeling if they have other health concerns if the patient is okay and agreed to be immunized they will now be immunized.

In case they are hesitant or having second thoughts, they will be counseled and if they agree they will be vaccinated.

ZCMC also has teams in place such as the vaccination team, Adverse Event Following Immunization, cold chain, driver, and waste disposal team.

Covid -19 vaccination will start from the medical frontliners as they are exposed to the virus and taking care of Covid 19 patients. (R.G. Antonet A. Go)
