The Zamboanga City Medical Center (ZCMC) Cancer Center together with Cancer Specialist has warned the public when it comes to Cancer.
One of ZCMC Oncologist, Dr. Nelson Laja, said “Otro el Cancer mas bueno man catch kita na early stage.”
In case of lumps, he is advising that these must be checked immediately and in case of cancer, ZCMC is equipped with the needed facility to include doctor specialist.
ZCMC Cancer Center has its Linear Accelerator and Brachytherapy being used for cancer treatment. Option of surgery and chemotherapy are also available for patients depending on the recommendations of the doctors.
“Debe wholistic el approach from screening, diagnostics, and even survivor ship for cancer survivors,” Laja said.
The ZCMC Cancer is currently serving some 100 patients coming from Zamboanga Peninsula and Basilan, Sulu, and Tawi Tawi. Cancer seen were breast cancer, lungs, colon, and others.
He explained, when treating cancer patients it is not being done by one doctor alone. All the doctors involved in the care of the patient sit-down for a conference and decide what’s best for the patient.
In case the problem is financial, the hospital can help through medical assistance, PhilHealth, Malasakit Center, and other.
Those who have cancer will no longer have to go to Manila, Cebu, or Davao to have their treatment.
At risk for cancer are those with family history, obesity, smoking, and drinking. Because of this, healthy lifestyle must be practiced to prevent cancer. (R.G. A A. Go)
