ZAMBOANGA: OLASO PRIORITIZES ROAD WIDENING EFFORTS TO ADRESS TRAFFIC IN 2026

    Mayor Khymer Olaso convenes an executive meeting with city department heads and their assistants on Monday, January 5, the first working day for 2026.

    The four-hour meeting, held at the City Hall conference room tackled key the mayor’s priorities to address the traffic situation, challenges, and plans for the city this year.

    The priorities include the widening of roads in San Roque, Putik – Tumaga, Putik to Coca-Cola plant in Tetuan, R. T. Lim Boulevard, Veterans Avenue (Metrobank to San Jose, and Canelar to Sta Maria among others.

    Olaso said funding allocation will be included in the supplemental budget as well as in the Executive Budget for 2027.

    Olaso’s Chief of Staff and Secretary, Celso Lobregat said the city is addressing the traffic situation through short term and long term measures.

    The City Assessor has been tasked to fast track survey of properties that will be affected and while the City Engineer’s Office has been urged to immediately prepare the plans and estimates.

    Mayor Olaso urged all department heads to remain committed to public service for the benefit of Zamboanga City.
