ZAMBOANGA: FUEL SUBSIDY ROLLOUT FOR PUJ DRIVERS

    The city government through the City Social Welfare and Development Office (DSWD) grants its counterpart fuel assistance to public utility jeepney (PUJ) drivers at the City Coliseum in Tetuan, Wednesday, April 8.

    The rollout of the P2k cash aid to PUJ drivers by the city government is in addition to the fuel subsidy that the beneficiaries will receive from the national government through the Departmentbof Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) in the amount of P5k.

    Mayor Khymer Olaso has chosen the PUJ sector for the initial rollout of the city government’s counterpart of the fuel subsidy program.

    The rollout coincides with the simultaneous payout being done by the DSWD to motorized tricycle operators/ drivers today in various sites to include the Zamboanga Polytechnic State University in Baliwasan, Baliwasan Central School, Zamboanga Central School and City Mall.

    A total of 2,373 PUJ drivers from both Districts 1 and 2 will benefit from the assistance rollout which is underway at the coliseum.

    The national government and the locsl governmrntst are implementing a multi-pronged fuel assistance program for PUJ drivers and other transport workers to combat rising oil prices.
