Zamboanga: Evangelical pastors in Zamboanga city officially declares their support to mayoralty aspirant Celso Lobregat

On May 4, 2022, numerous pastors from different Evangelical Churches convened to express their all-out support to the mayoralty candidate of Team Colorao. The former Mayor and District 1 Congressional Representative of Zamboanga City, Celso Lobregat has been invited by the said group to their gathering and prayed over him.

They announced their approval for Lobregat’s “Tried, Proven, Tested and can be Trusted” leadership style. In their manifesto, they stated that with Lobregat’s experience and remarkable accomplishments; he can bring more progress and development to their hometown.  Additionally, they enunciated their confidence to Lobregat based on his reputable tract record and legacy as a public servant. According to the religious leaders present at the mentioned event, Lobregat is more than capable in promoting and sustaining the city’s economic growth and development, at the same time, deliver a kind of government that is honest and transparent to its people.

In an excerpt taken in Lobregat’s FB Page it is said, that “In 2008, Cong. Lobregat was the only non-lawyer to speak before the Supreme Court en banc on Zamboanga City’s petition against the Memorandum on Ancestral Domain (MOA-AD) Bangsamoro Judicial Entity (BJE). In 2014 to 2016, Cong. Lobregat also took the lead in arguing against the unconstitutional provisions of the Bangsamoro Basic Law (BBL).”

Moreover, the same source has also published the message that has been articulated by the former Congressman; “I will be there to the very end——fighting for Zamboanga City’s interest, standing firm for what is best for Mindanao, defending the Constitution and protecting the Republic.”

In an interview, Celso Lobregat encourages his fellow Zamboagueños to really vote for the general welfare of the public, especially for those who’ve been deprived, used and stigmatized because of corruption/greed.  (Kristine Perez)
