Zamboanga city registers 2,771 Dengue cases

Zamboanga City registered a total of 2,771 Dengue cases as of June 25, 2022.  A total of 20 deaths were also reported due to dengue. The Zamboanga City Health Office continues to conduct surveillance activities as part of the measures being undertaken by the local government to halt the rising cases.

Based on the surveillance report for dengue, the city has recorded 90 dengue cases with 1 mortality.

The death of a nine-year old girl from Barangay Tetuan was the latest fatality as of June 24, 2022.

The City Health Office recorded a total of 2,775 dengue cases from January 1 to June 25. The number shows a 1,775% increased compared last year where there were 179% cases reported.

Of the total number, 51% were males, 52% belonging to the 0-9 age bracket, and 31% belonging to the 10-19 age bracket.

As of June 25, 2022, the CHO recorded a total of 20 deaths. Of the total number, 12 were severe cases, 6 with warning signs, and 2 as dengue with no warning signs.

Local officials urged the residents to follow the 4-S strategy against dengue which involves measures to search and destroy breeding sites, seek early consultation, self-protection, and say yes to fogging in areas where dengue cases are high.

Residents are also encouraged to report dengue cases to their barangay officials who will coordinate with the City Health Office for the implementation of measures. (Doc Cez)
