Zamboanga City pays tribute to the late Mayor Maria Clara L. Lobregat on her 101st birthday, Tuesday, April 26.
Mayor Beng Climaco spearheaded the commemorative activities dubbed ‘Dia de Mam Caling’ that kicked off with a mass at the Holy Trinity Parish in Pasonanca followed by a program at the Jardin Maria Clara at the Butterfly Garden also in Pasonanca.
Fondly called Ma’am Caling, Mayor Maria Clara Lobregat was born on April 26, 1921, and was the first woman mayor of Zamboanga City.
She served Zamboanga City as mayor from July 1, 1998 until her demise on January 2, 2004.
The Lobregat family, led by former District 1 Representative Celso Lobregat was present during the commemorative activities.
