Citing opinions of medical experts, Mayor Beng Climaco said the move to ease age restrictions allowing children aged 10 to 14 years old to go out should be studied further to determine whether or not this will help stimulate economic activity.
During the virtual press briefing Friday, the mayor said health authorities believe that children can be super spreaders of COVID-19 and the risks are high if they will be allowed to leave their homes.
The Presidential spokesperson the other day announced that the national Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) approved the recommendation to relax age-based restrictions for areas placed under Modified General Community Quarantine (MGCQ) beginning February 1, 2021.The Health Department said the move was done in line with the goal to balance economy and health.
At present, IATF rules permit only those aged 15 to 65 years old to leave their homes. (LGU Zamboanga)
