Camp Col Rafael C Rodriguez, Butuan City – PNP Caraga has started vaccinating its dependents aged 12 to 17 years old today (November 16) at the PNP hospital in Libertad, Butuan City as the battle against the coronavirus 2019 continues.

According to the Regional Medical and Dental Unit 13 (RMDU13), Moderna vaccines will be used among the minor dependents.

“We are projecting around 700 PNP dependents in the region to avail the vaccination program. This will serve as additional protection aside from maintaining the minimum health standard since their parents are working as frontliners,” PBGEN ROMEO M CARAMAT, JR., PNP Caraga Director.

RMDU13 will help hasten the vaccination to protect the children especially during the gradual reopening of schools for limited face-to-face classes.

Due to the stable supply of the COVID-19 vaccines, the government decided to do a nationwide rollout of pediatric vaccination targeting to vaccinate 80% of the target pediatric population by December 2021.

The Department of Health (DOH), began the nationwide rollout of COVID-19 vaccination among all children aged 12 to 17 years old last November 3, 2021.

“There is now real hope that vaccines will help end this pandemic. But until it is over, we must remain more prudent and continue to protect our loved ones by wearing masks, physically distancing and washing our hands,” RD CARAMAT JR added.
