An incidental search of Surigao City Jail personnel to a visitor yielded Php 27,200.00 worth of suspected shabu last Tuesday December 6.
Police Colonel Laudemer M. Laude, Provincial Director, identified the 31-year-old suspect Juneve Dumaguit Ibano, and a resident of Purok 4A, Brgy. Taligaman in Butuan City.
Based on the reports of the Surigao City Police Station, a jail warden called and reported that they intercepted a suspect for attempted delivery of suspected illegal drugs inside the jail facility around 3:30 PM in Barangay Silop, Surigao City.
Following a prompt response, authorities from the Surigao City Police Station proceeded to the jail mentioned above facility to validate the report.
Further reported that the jail duty searching team noticed a protruding aluminum foil inserted in the banana fruit the suspect mentioned above brought.
Confiscated from Ibano’s possession were four grams of suspected shabu with a street value of Php 27, 200.00, two pieces of aluminum foil, one white Samsung keypad cell phone, one black Infinix touchscreen cell phone, one black Vivo touchscreen cell phone, cash amounting to Php 1,820 in different denominations, and one yellow lighter.
“I lauded the efforts of our operatives and the personnel of Surigao City Jail to prevent illicit drugs from possible entry into the prison cell. Let’s keep going. We will all work together so that we can suppress illegal drugs in our province, PD added.”
Ibano is now under the custody of the Surigao City Police Station, and the seized suspected illegal drugs are being subjected to drug examination. Criminal charges are being prepared for filing in court.
