Surigao: Sta. Monica Police arrest Forestry Code wanted violator

Reinforcing their commitment to environmental protection, the police operatives of Sta. Monica Municipal Police Station arrested a wanted person charged with violation of Presidential Decree No. 705, the Revised Forestry Code of the Philippines, yesterday, June 13.

POLICE COLONEL LAUDEMER M. LAUDE, the Provincial Director, identified the accused as a 22-year-old single fisherman from Barangay Del Pilar, Cagdianao, Dinagat Islands.

Around 10:00 p.m. yesterday, the police operatives of Sta. Monica Municipal Police Station arrested the accused charged with violation of Section 77 Presidential Decree No. 705, the Revised Forestry Code of the Philippines, at Purok-7, Barangay Del Pilar, Cagdianao, Dinagat Islands, by virtue of a warrant of arrest under criminal case number 21-76.

The Regional Trial Court (RTC), 10th Judicial Region of Surigao del Norte, issued the warrant of arrest of the accused on May 31, 2024, with a bail bond recommended of Php30,000.00 for his temporary liberty.

“SDN PNP will always intensify measures to protect forests from illegal logging and other destructive activities in the province. These wanted violators cannot hide from legal sanctions. We will not tolerate unethical actions that destroy the forest and other natural resources,” PD Laude said.

The arrested person Is now under the custody of Sta. Monica Municipal Police Station for proper disposition. (Mark James Lisondra)
