Camp Col Rafael C Rodriguez, Butuan City ———— Another 16 New People’s Army (NPA) rebels from different parts of the province of Agusan del Norte, have returned to the fold of the law yesterday (May 20) during the conduct of simultaneous anti-criminality law enforcement operations (SACLEO).
POLICE BRIGADIER GENERAL ROMEO M CARAMAT, JR, Police Regional Office (PRO) 13 Director, said five were from municipality of Nasipit, four from Remedios T. Romualdez, two from Las Nieves and the rest from Carmen, Santiago, Kitcharao, Jabonga and Cabadbaran City.
Of the 16 surrenders, some of them are members of Sandatahang Yunit Pampropaganda (SYP) Guerilla Front (GF)21C, North Eastern Mindanao Regional Committee (NEMRC), served as former Team Leader of GFC88 NEMRC, former Militia ng Bayan Member under GF16A, GF16, NEMRC, member SYP Kingdom, GF4A, NCMRC, Squad medic, of Squad 3 of SYP Kingdom GF4A, MGF4A Purchaser, Militia ng Bayan member “NPA sa Barrio” (Tigpaniktik/Supply Courier) under GF16A, NEMRC.
A former militia ng bayan surrendered an improvised 12-gauge shotgun with one ammunition.
“The lack of empathy and support from the leftist movement has led these former rebels to abandon their ill-fated revolution, and the community relations approach by our law enforcers has enlightened them to return to the fold of government to live a peaceful and productive life,” RD CARAMAT JR said.
Authorities are now working hand in hand with them to avail the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP) benefits.
