Dapa, Siargao Islands – Security screeners Premarie Gonzales, Jethil Sumaylo, and Ronald Simeros assigned at the Port of Dapa in Siargao Islands, displayed their commitment to integrity and responsibility when they discovered a misplaced black sling bag at the port premises Saturday morning, 04 November 2023.

Upon a thorough examination of its contents, they made a remarkable find – a substantial sum of PhP170,000.00 in cash. The bag also revealed identification cards pointing to its presumed owner, a certain Ronald Cariaga Manlosa, residing at B6 L4 Pangarap Moonwalk Village, Las Piñas City, Philippines.

The on-duty port police officer promptly sprang into action. Tracing, verification, and a search for connections to recently departed vessels became the order of the day as time was of the essence in ensuring the safe return of this valuable possession.

Meanwhile, Bernadette Bausing Espuerta, residing at P-6, Poblacion, Del Carmen, Surigao del Norte, and a stepsister to the bag’s owner, received a call instructing her to claim the lost item and promptly made her way to the port office.

After conducting further verification and securing the necessary approval from the rightful owner, the black sling bag was successfully returned to its rightful owner through Mrs. Espuerta, at around 11:00 AM on the same day.
