Surigao City — The City Planning and Development Office of Surigao City starts training around 100 enumerators that will be deployed in the upcoming Community-Based Monitoring System (CBMS) or the Republic Act No. 11315.

In partnership with the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), the training will equip the hired enumerators on the CBMS concepts and on carrying out data collection activities from geotagging, and listing of buildings, to conducting interviews per household through the use of an electronic questionnaire in a tablet.

The Community-Based Monitoring System, a key data collection activity by the PSA, is an organized technology-based household survey for the 54 mainland and island barangays of the city.

As a statistical activity, the collected data during the CBMS will serve as a basis for crafting evidence-based policies and programs geared toward poverty alleviation and economic development.

CBMS also captures various aspects of quality of life in the cities and municipalities, particularly in health, nutrition, housing, water and sanitation, basic education, income, employment, peace and order, and disaster preparedness.

The training for the first batch of enumerators started today, March 27, 2023, and ends on April 4, 2023, held in various venues (Livelihood Training and Productivity Center, and PV Grill.)

The 2023 CBMS will commence after the completion of the first and second batches of training which dates will be announced.
