Surigao City successfully hosted the 3rd Batang Surigaonon Battle of Surigao Strait Triathlon 2024 today, October 20, 2024. Organized by the City Government of Surigao through the City Sports Office, City Tourism and Cultural Affairs Office, Local Youth Development Office, and Surigao Cycling Club, the event brought together over 200 triathletes from Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao, including elite athletes and Surigao City Mayor Paul Dumlao.
The triathlon featured two categories, with the Standard Distance event challenging participants to a 1.5 km swim, a 40 km bike course, and a 10 km run. The event also featured a Sprint Distance, which covered half of the Standard course. Athletes of all ages and backgrounds showcased their athleticism, highlighting sportsmanship and perseverance throughout the race.
