To fortify local farming efforts, the Department of Agriculture Regional Field Office-Caraga (DA RFO 13) recently delivered 1,000 sacks of certified inbred rice seeds, each weighing 20 kilograms, to Surigao City.

The initiative, backed by the Rice Competitiveness Enhancement Fund (RCEF), assists small-scale farmers in gearing up for the upcoming wet cropping season.

On November 24, 2023, DA RFO 13 successfully handed over the shipment, providing the City Government of Surigao with the essential resources to support its agricultural sector.

Yesterday, on November 28, 2023, the City Agriculture Office, led by OIC Amelita Dela Cerna, spearheaded the distribution of these inbred seeds to 212 farmers from various barangays in Surigao City.

A total of 1,000 sacks, each containing 20 kilograms of certified inbred seeds, were disbursed among local farmers. This targeted distribution aims to empower the agricultural community, fostering growth and sustainability in Surigao City’s vital sector.
