The Philippines, known for its vulnerability to natural disasters, continues to prioritize disaster preparedness in the face of potential risks. In line with this, the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) under the leadership of Threlzie Villaces took part in the Quarterly Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill organized by the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC).

During the recent Fourth Quarter Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill, the CDRRMO actively engaged in comprehensive drills at key locations, namely the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Surigao del Norte 2nd District Engineering Office and Surigao Doctors Hospital. Both these sites hold significant importance during calamities, playing crucial roles in disaster response and recovery efforts.

Recognizing the pivotal role of proactive readiness, the preparedness initiatives aim to minimize the impact of disasters on the community. By fostering strong disaster preparedness plans, Surigao City remains steadfast in its commitment to ensuring the safety and resilience of its residents in the face of unexpected natural events.

The active participation and preparedness showcased in these drills reflect the city’s dedication to providing quality service, particularly in the realm of disaster response and management.
