Surigao: Captain Bonita takes oath as member of People’s Law Enforcement Board

    Captain Christopher ‘Boyet’ Bonite of Barangay Washington, who also serves as the Vice President of the Liga ng Mga Barangay, was officially sworn in as a member of the People’s Law Enforcement Board (PLEB) on August 9, 2024.

    The oath-taking ceremony was led by City Mayor Pablo Yves L. Dumlao II.

    Present at the ceremony were PLEB members City Councilor Joseph Joy Yuipco, Mary Apple Antoniette G. Catre, Atty. Neil Sam L. Basco, and Eldrich Cloyd C. Garcia, alongside City Budget Officer Atty. Jeffrey Galido.

    The PLEB, established under Republic Act No. 6975, functions as a critical check-and-balance mechanism, allowing citizens to file complaints against law enforcers who misuse their authority. This board upholds the Rule of Law and empowers the community to ensure discipline within law enforcement ranks.

    The PLEB encourages active community participation, empowering both individuals and the community to contribute to maintaining discipline within the ranks of law enforcers, while also recognizing and rewarding exceptional. (Mark James Lisondra)
