Surigao: 9 loose firearms surrendered in SDN PNP’s intensified campaign against unregistered weapons

The Surigao del Norte PNP’s continues to make significant strides in its intensified campaign against loose firearms. Nine loose firearms were voluntarily surrendered to the local municipal police stations of Surigao del Norte.

POLICE COLONEL LAUDEMER M. LAUDE, the Provincial Director, confirmed the nine individuals as a 56-year-old male farmer from Tubod; a 45-year-old male farmer from Del Carmen; a 43-year-old male laborer from Malimono; a 36-year-old male from Sison; a 69-year-old male farmer from Mainit; an 80-year-old retired police officer from Placer; a 55-year-old male farmer from Bacuag; a 30-year-old male construction worker from San Benito; and a 22-year-old male helper from Claver, all from Surigao del Norte. PCOL LAUDE acknowledged their volunteerism in responding to the SDN PNP’s campaign against unauthorized weapons.

Nine unregulated firearms were voluntarily surrendered to the municipal police stations of Bacuag, Claver, Placer, Sison, Malimono, Tubod, Del Carmen, San Benito and 2nd SDN PMFC during a one-day campaign against loose firearms. The surrendered firearms were accepted and properly documented by the police authorities.

The locals of the province voluntarily turned over the following loose firearms: two units of improvised shotguns with two rounds of ammunition, two units of improvised explosive devices, two units of hand grenades, one unit of homemade shotgun, one unit of .45 caliber pistol (ARMSCOR) with serial number 783364, and one unit of rifle grenade with serial number M-76C-AVA-0069-89.

“The SDN PNP’s campaign against loose firearms is a crucial part of our mandate to prevent crime and protect the lives of Surigaonons. We urge everyone to cooperate by voluntarily surrendering any unregistered or illegal firearms in their possession. Each firearm surrendered contributes to a safer environment for our families and future generations,” PD Laude said.

The surrendered firearms are now under the custody of respective Municipal Police Stations for proper disposition. (Mark James Lisondra)
