Succesful 2-Day Environmental Symposium enhances sustainability efforts in Surigao City

The City Environment and Natural Resources Office, led by Engr. Jose Alfonso A. Casurra recently concluded a successful 2-day Environmental Symposium for the city’s 54 barangays on June 10-11, 2024.

Held at the City Cultural Center in observance of Environment Month, the symposium aimed to elevate environmental consciousness and advocate sustainable practices among residents.

Among the topics discussed were the implications of RA 9003 for climate change, effective forestry management strategies, and the critical importance of biodiversity management.

Mary Coleen L. Diango representing DENR PENRO SDN was among the speakers together with Surigao City Environment & Natural Resources Office Representatives Sandie Arlan-Cagata, Leonardo Go, and Forester Mel Kevin Agunias.

The symposium was attended by Sangguniang Kabataan Chairpersons and Barangay Councilors responsible for environmental committees, emphasizing their dedication to fostering a sustainable and resilient future for Surigao City. (Mark James Lisondra)
