RDRRMC Bicol Response Agencies, PDRRMOs Convene For PDRA Of LPA

As part of the region’s preparedness measures for any weather disturbances to affect Bicol, Office of Civil Defense (OCD) 5 leads the Pre-Disaster Risk Assessment (PDRA) virtual meeting of the Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (RDRRMC) Bicol last October 22, 2020 via Zoom teleconferencing.

Mr. Michael Francisco, weather forecaster of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), discussed the low pressure area or LPA east of Mindanao which shall be named “Quinta” once it becomes a Tropical Depression (TD).

The LPA is likely to enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) on Friday and is forecasted to move towards Bicol Region area and might landfall on Monday morning. Bicol region shall experience the threat of the weather disturbance by October 25-26, 2020 and will bring moderate to heavy rains and strong winds.

RDRRMC Bicol Chairperson Claudio L. Yucot also discussed the agency preparedness actions of the RDRRMC response agencies and the Provincial DRRM Offices (PDRRMOs).

The LPA was last tracked at more or less 1,200 kilometers east of Mindanao at 12:00 p.m. of October 22, 2020.
