Camp Col. Rafael C. Rodriguez, Butuan City – Police Regional Office 13 joined in the official launching of E-ACCESS in a ceremony at the PNP Multi-Purpose Center in Camp BGen Rafael T Crame, Quezon City, today, July 8.
Police Regional Office 13 Regional Director POLICE BRIGADIER GENERAL ROMEO M. CARAMAT JR. reiterated that PNP’s E-ACCESS provides a secured platform to netizens to validate an online account, either a registered mobile number, email, website or a social media account, that is subject of a verified complaint or has a pending criminal case for cybercrime operations based on real-time records from the PNP Anti-Cybercrime Group (ACG).
The E-ACCESS is spearheaded by Anti-Cybercrime Group (ACG), it will also contain anti-cybercrime prevention and awareness contents to help equip netizens on how to spot a scammer and how to safeguard their information online, but will not violate data privacy act, the top cop added.
The data in E-ACCESS are only from the gathered investigation or collected intelligence from Anti-Crime Group. This system is also strengthening the PNP’s reporting system, data collection and data reporting from the netizens to our Anti-Crime Group to improve investigative capability.
“This system will not solve all of our problem in cybercrime but it would help us to be more pro-active in aiding those victims in cybercrime by conducting police operations. The data collected in this system will led to case build up and to initiate police actions to scammers or cyber criminals with the help of netizens complain.
