Road Crash Accident
Road crash accident transpired at Purok Hiligaynon, Barangay Rebokon, Dumalinao, Zamboanga del Sur at 10:35 AM of February 7, 2021 involving a motorcycle and a pedestrian. The one unit Honda ACB 125-CBFL motorcycle, color red with black combination, driven by Jay-Ar Lapera Misamis, 24 years old, married, self-employed, of Purok Sampaguita, Barangay Napolan, Pagadian City together with his back rider identified as Vilma Batucan Misamis, 22 years old, married, sales agent, of Purok Sampaguita, Barangay Napolan, Pagadian City bumped the pedestrian identified as Melagrosa Preche Hitalia, 83 years old, widow, self-employed, of Purok Hiligaynon, Barangay Rebokon, Dumalinao, Zamboanga del Sur. Investigation disclosed that prior to the incident, the motorcycle was traversing from Barangay Metokong, Dumalinao Municipality bound to Pagadian City, upon reaching the secondary road of National Highway of Purok Hiligaynon, the motorcycle accidentally bumped the said pedestrian who suddenly crossed the road. As a result, she sustained head and body injury and was brought to Aisah Medical Hospital, Barangay San Pedro, Pagadian City for medical treatment but was later declared dead by the attending physician. Subject driver and his back rider sustained minor injuries and were brought to Dumalinao Municipal Police Station to include the motorcycle for proper disposition of the case.
Vehicular incident transpired along Pilar Street Junction, Concuera Street, Zamboanga City at 10:30 AM of February 7, 2021 involving a Honda RS driven by Hassan Tonga y Hassan, 30 years old, male, married, of Barangay Sta. Catalina, Zamboanga City who was travelling from east to west along Pilar Street. Before reaching the junction of Corcuera Street, said driver did an early left turn towards Corcuera Street and tried to avoid bumping a Philippine Army vehicle which was ahead of him. Hassan Tonga applied brakes on his motorcycle but despite of doing so, said motorcycle skidded and accidentally came in contact against the left side rear portion of the KEM 450 Philippine Army Vehicle with no plate attached, driven by Police Corporal Shalimar Aburahsi y Askalani, 42 years old, male, married, resident of Lower Stanvac, Brgy Calarian, Zamboanga City, presently assigned at Task Force Zamboanga Headquarters, Camp Arturo T Enrile, Brgy Upper Calarian, Zamboanga City which at that time was also doing a left turn at the said street ahead of the said motorcycle. As a result, Tonga Hassan sustained physical injuries and was rushed to Zamboanga City Medical Center on board the Phil. Army vehicle for immediate medical treatment. The motorcycle involved incurred damages and was brought to Zamboanga City Police Station 11 for safekeeping.
Alleged Accidental Firing
An alleged accidental firing transpired at Sitio Bahandi, Barangay Calabasa, Zamboanga City at around 11:00 PM of February 7, 2021. Victim was identified as Erwin Hipolito y Toledo, 41 years old, male, single, resident of Sitio Bahandi, Brgy Calabasa, Zamboanga City who was immediately rushed to Zamboanga City Medical Center for immediate treatment. Initial investigation disclosed that prior to the incident, said victim together with his companion identified as Louie Villanueva, male, legal age, resident of Brgy Calabasa, Zamboanga City, active member of Phil. Navy were having a drinking spree at the residence of a certain Carlos Dagalea. Few moments later, both transferred to a billiard spot and allegedly fell asleep. At about 11:00 PM of same date, residents nearby heard a gunshot. Thereat, victim was found with a gunshot wound on his mouth and was immediately rushed to Zamboanga City Medical Center for treatment by said suspect together with Barangay officials on board a Barangay Service Vehicle (L300). Recovered from the scene was one (1) empty shell of apparently Cal .45. Suspect is presently under the custody of Zamboanga City Police Station 2. Upon interview, it was found out that Louie Villanueva is an active member of the Philippine Navy and claimed that he was about to go home when he loaded his issued firearm and accidentally pulled the trigger which resulted to the injury of the victim. Zamboanga City Police Station 2 is still conducting thorough investigation regarding the said incident and currently retrieving said firearm at suspect’s residence.
Top 7 Most Wanted of Zamboanga City, Arrested
Police operatives of Zamboanga City Police Station 2 (Curuan) led by PCPT Martin Baclayo conducted law enforcement operation through service of warrant of arrest at Ciudad Medical Zamboanga, Nuñez Extension, Zamboanga City at 5:45 PM of February 7, 2021. The operation resulted to the arrest of Habisi Nasalon of legal age, male, married and a resident of Barangay Muti, Zamboanga City. He was arrested for the crime of Kidnapping and Serious Illegal Detention issued By Hon. Ivy F. Damayo Elvna, Acting Presiding Judge, Regional Trial Court Branch 16, Zamboanga City dated December 10, 2020 under Criminal Case no. 24270 with no bail recommended. He is still confined at Ciudad Medical Zamboanga.
Robbery Suspect, Arrested in Zamboanga City
Police operatives of Zamboanga City Police Station 10 (Labuan) conducted law enforcement operation through service of warrant of arrest at Barangay Recodo, Zamboanga City at 7:30 PM of February 7, 2021. The operation resulted to the arrest of Lannang Daris, 31 years old, male, married, fish vendor, a resident of the said place. He was arrested by virtue of warrant of arrest for the crime of Attempted Robbery with Criminal Case no. 51290 issued by Hon. Peter V. Eisma, Presiding Judge, Branch 1, Municipal Trial Court in Cities, 9th Judicial Region, Zamboanga City dated January 18, 2021 with recommended bail bond of P2,000.00. He is presently under Zamboanga City Police Station 10 custody prior turn over to court concerned.
Rape Suspect, Arrested in San Miguel
Police operatives of San Miguel Municipal Police Station conducted law enforcement operation through service of warrant of arrest at Purok 2, Barangay Mati, San Miguel, Zamboanga del Sur at about 1:00 PM of February 7, 2021. The operation resulted to the arrest of Rowel Matchuca Vergas, 36 years old, male, married, and a resident of the said place. He was arrested by virtue of warrant of arrest for the Crime of Rape and Child Abuse, docketed under Criminal Case Number 20-0160 & 2017-SM, dated November 13, 2002, issued by Hon. Reinerio B. Ramas, Acting Presiding Judge, Regional Trial Court, San Miguel-Dinas-Lapuyan, 9th Judicial Region, San Miguel, Zamboanga del Sur with no bail bond. He is now temporarily detained at San Miguel Municipal Police Station custodial facility while waiting for commitment order from the court.
