Police thoroughly investigating the killing of a policeman at a local sports complex, Saturday night.
Police regional information officer, Capt. Edwin Duco claimed, investigators are thoroughly investigating the incident where unidentified gunmen shot and killed Police Senior Master Sergeant Leo E. San Juan that transpired at the parking lot of Classique Sports Complex, around 6:50 PM of November 28, 2020.
Duco said, Police Senior Master Sergeant Leo E San Juan, A resident of Brgy Tumaga Porcentro, Zamboanga City, presently assigned at Zamboanga City Police Station 1 (Vitali) sustained gunshot wounds while onboard a Nissan Navarra color black with plate number DAC 6239.
Initial investigation disclosed that prior to the incident, the victim was at the Parking lot of Classique Sports Complex, Brgy Sinunuc, Zamboanga City on board his vehicle when an unidentified person open fired on his vehicle hitting the said victim. After the incident, the gunman fled on board a single motorcycle Yamaha Sniper together with his one (1) companion towards West Coast direction of the City.
The victim was immediately rushed to Brent Hospital for medical treatment; however, the said victim was pronounced dead at about 8:00 PM of same date by his attending physician while undergoing medication.
The victim sustained gunshot wounds on his left cheek and left portion of his body. Recovered from the crime scene were Four (4) spent shells of caliber .45 pistol and one (1) slug of same caliber.
Police personnel of Zamboanga City Police Station 8 are now conducting a hot pursuit operation for the possible identification and arrest the perpetrators, Duco claimed.
