The Philippines hit a new record high number of confirmed daily Covid-19 cases since the start of the pandemic after logging 26,303 additional cases on Saturday, bringing the total number of infections in the country to 2,296,021.

As of 4 p.m. of September 11, the Department of Health (DOH) also recorded 16,013 recoveries and 79 deaths.

The DOH clarified that out of the 26,303 new cases for Saturday, 1,608 were cases which should be included in the September 10 topline numbers.

“The other 24,695 are actual cases to be reported for September 11,” the DOH said.

Of the total number of infections, 8.4 percent (185,706) are active, 90.0 percent (1,985,337) have recovered, and 1.59 percent (34,978) have died.

For cases in NCR, of the 9,061 total cases reported today, 447 should have been reported for September 10.

There were 52 duplicates removed from the total case count. Of these, 45 are recoveries.

Moreover, 32 cases that were previously tagged as recoveries were reclassified as deaths after final validation.

All laboratories were operational on September 9, 2021 but 2 labs were not able to submit their data to the Covid-19 Document Repository System (CDRS).

Based on data in the last 14 days, the 2 non-reporting labs contribute, on average, 0.8 percent of samples tested and 1.1 percent of positive individuals.

While some technical issues have been resolved by the Department of Information and Communications Technology, the DOH said that there are CDRS data “not yet included in CovidKaya and remain unavailable for extraction.”

“This has led to some delays in inclusion of new data for cases, deaths, and recoveries. The DICT is continuing their investigation. While we await full resolution of this issue, we may observe some delays in inclusion of some data in our topline numbers in the coming days but we are managing this by generating data from CDRS and submitted line lists by our disease reporting units,” the DOH said.
