A total of three sacks of garbage were collected during the underwater clean-up drive, “SCUBASURERO” at the vicinity waters off Surigao City Boulevard participated by the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) Station Surigao del Norte on 29 June 2021.
Said initiative, in line with Proclamation No. 237 declaring the month of June as the Philippine Environmental Month, was spearheaded by the Caraga Mine Environmental Management Council Inc. (CMEMCI) and Taganito Mining Corporation.
Aside from the PCG Station Surigao del Norte, the PCG Special Operations Unit – Northeastern Mindanao and PNP Maritime Unit XIII also joined the marine environmental protection initiative.
