Zamboanga City welcomed 67,790 tourists in October, marking a 16.34% increase compared to the same month last year, according to the City Tourism Office.
In 2023, tourist inflow for the month of October was recorded at 58,289. The record this year shows an addition of 9,501 tourists who visited last October, when the city celebrated the grandest and most anticipated Zamboanga Hermosa Festival.
City Tourism Officer Sarita Sebastian attributed the increase to several factors including better economic conditions, improved travel accessibility, and effective promotional campaigns.
The upward trend in tourist arrivals, she said, has several positive implications for the tourism sector such as revenue growth and job creation.
Nonetheless, challenges related to policies, infrastructure and peace and security should be effectively addressed to ensure further growth in the tourism industry in the coming years, Sebastian asserted. (CMO-PIO)
