Department of Public Works and Highways Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan led the 3rd Quarter Regular Meeting of the Joint Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (JTF-ELCAC) for Region 9.
The event, hosted by Zamboanga del Sur at the Pavilion Hall, Friday, Aug. 16, brought together provincial leaders from across the Zamboanga Peninsula, along with representatives from national government agencies.
The meeting aims to reinforce the region’s commitment to peace and development. Governor Victor J. Yu, known for his dedication to uplifting his province, opened the session with a powerful message of unity and progress. He emphasized the importance of collective action in addressing the challenges posed by insurgency and underscored the need for continued cooperation among local and national leaders.
Discussed during the meeting were salient features of Proclamation 404, status of the implementation of housing project for formel rebels in ZAMPEN, Retoole community support program and projects for 2026 and the resolution requesting President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to restore the P20-M support for each insurgency-free barangay under the support to Barangay Development Program.
