Olympian Joanie Talagtag Delgaco, alongside her coaches Nicanor R. Jasmin, Assistant Coach of the Philippine Rowing Team, and Shukrat Ganiev, Foreign Coach of Philippine Rowing Team, conducted a rowing clinic for aspiring young athletes aged 16 to 24 on August 23, 2024, at the Sports Center in Sta. Cruz Sur, Iriga City.
The clinic aimed to inspire and train the next generation of rowers, providing them with hands-on experience and expert guidance from some of the nation’s top figures in the sport.
This event highlighted the importance of fostering young talent in rowing, a sport that has brought international recognition to the Philippines through Delgaco’s achievements.
The initiative was made possible with the support of local leaders, including Mayor Rex C. Oliva, Vice Mayor Edsel S. Dimaiwat, and Executive Secretary Jor-el Caayao.
Their commitment to promoting sports and youth development in Iriga City played a crucial role in bringing this opportunity to the local community. Through their efforts, young athletes were able to engage in a meaningful experience that could shape their future in sports, particularly in rowing.
