How do Zamboangueños welcome summer? It’s by launching the Verano Festival with exciting games lined up in the famed Sta. Cruz Island on April 29, 2023.
Sports enthusiast Mayor John Dalipe in his speech expressed his hopes that “the festival shall inspire the youth to appreciate our local culture and heritage and to take an active role in promoting the city’s tourism industry”.
The Verano Festival is a means for guests of all ages to realize the potential of Zamboanga’s tourism industry. Sports tourism promotes the beauty of Zamboanga City while attracting more visitors to our shores.
Exciting games lined up for the festival kick-off are Amazing Race, volleyball, and soccer, facilitated in the iconic Sta. Cruz Island which is famous for its fine, pink sand.
Joining Mayor John Dalipe are Councilors Jerome “Joey Papaya” Santos, Vicente “Vino” Guingona and City tourism officer, Sarita Sebastian – Hernandez.
