Zamboanga City – City Mayor Maria Isabelle Climaco-Salazar has instructed the City Health Office and the Office of Barangay Affairs in City Hall to roll out the availability of testing reagents for mandatory drug test on Sangguniang Kabataan members and city government employees.
This, after an SK official was arrested in a drug buy bust operation, and much earlier on at least two city government were arrested on illegal drug trade.
Climaco said she has met with Councilos Pinpin Pareja and Jihan Edding and former SK officials “and together with them they demanded that the SK Federation should conduct a mandatory drug test” on all SK members and officers.
“They cannot be good examples for the youth if they are into drugs,” she said. “We continue to advocate for drug-free communities and a drug-free Zamboanga city,” the mayor stressed.
She added that the city government has allocated funds for rehabilitation of drug users and dependents.-(LGU Public Information Office)
