Bacolod City – The Mambukal Resort and Wildlife Sanctuary in Brgy. Minoyan, Murcia, Negros Occidental, is up for further development in the years to come, as the provincial government purchased 10 hectares of land amounting to P80 million, surrounding the seven falls inside the resort.

“The provincial government now has control and ownership over the land of the falls and river systems surrounding the seven falls inside the resort,” Provincial Administrator Atty. Rayfrando Diaz stressed, after the provincial government bought the land from the Mambukal Real Estate Corporation.

He said the development of Mambukal will include the construction of a world class hotel and also additional tourism features, such as hiking, trail running, biking, and even horseback riding.

“We will offer services about two notches higher and better than the current tourism services and features the resort offers,” Diaz added.

Additional hotel rooms will be constructed and will be made available on top of Mambukal, he said adding that the hotel rooms will be mid to high end “so that we can have a share from the foreign tourists.”

Diaz also said they are looking into the establishment of a tram line and a zip line from the 7th falls to the Mambukal proper.

With accessibility through Camp Nolan, he added that trekking will not only go through the river, but also the upper portion of the resort, to prevent the dangers of landslides and flash floods.

Depending on the recommendation of the geologist and architects, the pathway will either be cemented or dirt, Diaz further said. (Gilbert Bayoran via The Visayan Daily Star (TVDS), photo courtesy of TVDS)
