Liquor Used As Disinfectant In Benguet

Local officials of Itogon disinfect their municipal grounds and vehicles using confiscated gin from liquor ban violators.

No less than the Municipal Mayor Victorio Palangdan and other local officials initiated the use of alcoholic drinks to disinfect the municipal building ground and their vehicles on June 13.

The Municipal police operatives turned over the confiscated 40 cartons containing 960 bottles of 2X2 gin from several liquor ban violators during the community quarantine.

The municipality of Itogon is located few kilometers away from Baguio City and known as one of the mining towns in the province of Benguet.

Palangdan in his post to his Facebook account, reminded his constituents that the liquor ban in their municipality is still in effect and violators will be apprehended.

Due to the strict imposition of liquor ban in all the 13 municipalities of Benguet and in Baguio City several unscrupulous individuals and businessmen took advantage of the situation by selling liquor products clandestinely and jacked up the price as high as Php2,000.00 per box.

Before the COVID pandemic and community quarantine regular price is Php1,260.00 per box.

Netizens who saw the post in the social media account of the mayor appreciated how they municipal officials make used of the confiscated gin.

Some netizens reacted jokingly that the want to be disinfected with the gin.

Gin is the most preferred brand of the hardworking workers of the Cordillera region.
