LGU Iriga 2024 Sportsfest kicks off with Electrifying Parade and Festivities

Iriga City – The streets of Iriga City came alive today as the 2024 LGU-Iriga Sports Fest kicked off with a dazzling, high-energy parade, drawing huge crowds of eager participants and enthusiastic spectators. The festive parade began at the Ceremonial Grandstand and snaked its way to the Iriga City Sports Center, marking the start of one of the most anticipated events of the year.

Amid cheers and applause, the vibrant performances of majorettes and the thundering beats of the marching bands from the University of Saint Anthony (USANT) and Ceguera Technological College added flair to the occasion. Their dynamic routines set the tone for what promises to be an action-packed festival filled with thrilling competition and a strong sense of community spirit.

A key highlight of the day was the introduction of the newly crowned Mr. and Ms. Sports Fest. John Noleal, proudly representing the Red Warriors, took the title of Mr. Sports Fest, while Clea Faye Coralde of the Orange Crushers was crowned Ms. Sports Fest. Both champions embodied the passion and pride of their respective clusters, sparking excitement for the upcoming battles for supremacy.

This year’s Sports Fest sees five clusters ready to compete for glory:
Cluster 1: Blue Diamond
Cluster 2: Green Panthers
Cluster 3: Red Warriors
Cluster 4: Orange Crushers
Cluster 5: Yellow Five Star

The official opening ceremonies featured rousing remarks from Vice Mayor Edsel S. Dimaiwat, who inspired the participants with a message of unity and sportsmanship. Mayor Rex C. Oliva also graced the event, underscoring the importance of teamwork and community building. Mr. Solomon Ngo led the athletes in the traditional Oath of Sportsmanship, pledging fair play and camaraderie throughout the competition.

Notable attendees included Councilors Jeff Tino, Dandreb Abonite, JM Grimaldo, Nikki Lagrimas, Boboy Guevara, SK President Dessa Mare Lontayao, and Mr. Jor’el Caayao. Their presence highlighted the city’s strong support for the annual sports fest, which fosters both physical fitness and community togetherness.

The LGU-Iriga Sports Fest will unfold over the coming days, with an exciting array of sporting events scheduled at various venues across the city. As the clusters gear up for friendly rivalry and intense competition, the stage is set for an unforgettable showcase of talent, athleticism, and local pride.
