FIVE international flights from Japan to the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) were cancelled Sunday (August 15) due to ash emissions spawned by the Fukutoku-Okanoba volcano located some 1,000 kilometers south of Tokyo.

Philippine Airlines (PAL) also cancelled the following August 14 flights to Japan: PR890/891 Manila – Taipei – Manila; PR428/427 Manila – Tokyo (Narita) – Manila; and PR412/411 Manila – Osaka (Kansai) – Manila.

On Sunday,  PAL flights to Fukuoka and to Haneda airports were also cancelled.

Another flight to Japan that was canceled was KLM Royal Dutch Airlines to Amsterdam.

PAL also cancelled two domestic flights to Basco, Batanes, also due to the volcanic eruption in Japan.

PAL said passengers of any of the cancelled flights will be notified via email and may avail of any of the following options:

  • Rebook your flight to a later date;
  • Convert your ticket to a Travel Voucher;
  • Refund your ticket without penalties.

Passengers may request any of the options via the MyPAL Request Hub at https://bit.ly/myPALRequestHub.
