Ensuring that every Irigueño family can afford basic necessities is a top priority of the current administration. On March 30, 2026, the newly activated and constituted Local Price Coordinating Council (LPCC) held its inaugural meeting at the CMO Conference Room to lay the groundwork for a more stable and fair local economy.

Presided over by Mayor Rex C. Oliva, who serves as the Council Chair, the meeting marked the formal transition from policy to action. The primary goal was to convene key stakeholders and outline a strategic roadmap for monitoring and stabilizing the prices and supply of basic necessities and prime commodities within Iriga City.

The council’s first agenda focused on its mandate and the current market landscape, including:

    • 𝗟𝗲𝗴𝗮𝗹 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗲: A comprehensive orientation on the Executive Order creating the LPCC and its roles under the law.

    • 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗲𝘁 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲: A detailed presentation on the current price situation and supply levels in our local markets.

    • 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗠𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗶𝘀𝗺𝘀: The LPCC is implementing a streamlined system for market inspections to ensure strict compliance with the Suggested Retail Price (SRP). Central to this is a robust, real-time reporting system designed to track the daily flow of goods. By monitoring inventory levels from wholesalers to retailers, the council can identify early warning signs of artificial shortages or illegal hoarding.

This multi-sectoral approach brings together the expertise of the DTI, DILG, PNP-Iriga, BFP-Iriga, and the Sangguniang Panlungsod, alongside various city departments including the City Treasurer’s Office, Local Economic Development and Investment Promotions Office, City Agriculture Office, Market Superintendent’s Office, City Veterinary Office, City Planning and Development Coordinator’s Office, City Legal Office, City Health Office, City Environment and Natural Resources Office, and Public Information Office.

Crucially, the LPCC also integrates the voices of our Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) and other private sector stakeholders. Their participation ensures that the council’s actions are grounded in the actual needs and experiences of our local consumers and business owners.

By activating the LPCC, the City Government of Iriga is taking a proactive stance in protecting the community from unjustified price hikes. Through constant monitoring and coordination, we are working to ensure that our markets remains fair, our supplies remain steady, and the welfare of every Irigueño consumer is prioritized.
