Guided by the strong directive of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. to intensify the government’s campaign against illegal drugs, the Police Regional Office 5 (PRO5), under the leadership of PBGEN Nestor C Babagay, Jr., in close coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Regional Office V, successfully seized 300 grams of suspected shabu with a standard drug price of P2,040,000.00 during a buy-bust operation conducted on October 20, 2025, around 8:28 PM in Daet, Camarines Norte.
The successful operation was carried out by joint operatives of the Provincial Police Drug Enforcement Unit (PPDEU), as the lead unit together with the Provincial Intelligence Unit (PIU) and Daet MPS, and in coordination with PDEA Regional Office V.
The suspect, identified as alias “Gie,” 37 years old, and a resident of Daet, Camarines Norte, was apprehended after selling the illegal substance to an undercover police operative during the buy-bust. The confiscated items, along with the arrested individual, were brought to the Daet MPS for documentation, inventory, and proper disposition. He will face charges for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
PBGEN Babagay, Jr. commended the operating units for their unwavering dedication and professionalism, emphasizing that the operation is a testament to the PNP’s strong resolve to rid Bicol of illegal drugs.
“This accomplishment mirrors our steadfast adherence to the PNP’s Focused Agenda under the leadership of our Chief PNP, PLTGEN Jose Melencio C Nartatez, Jr. It highlights the importance of cooperation and our shared responsibility in safeguarding communities from the dangers of illegal drugs,” said PBGEN Babagay Jr.
He further encouraged all PNP personnel to sustain their momentum and continue their relentless campaign against illegal drugs, noting that the fight is far from over.
“We will continue our efforts and do our best to stop the proliferation of illegal drugs in the Bicol Region. Together with our partner agencies and the community, we will ensure that our region remains safe, drug-free, and conducive for progress,” he added.
This latest anti-drug operation underscores PRO5’s full commitment to the national government’s thrust of building a “Bagong PNP para sa Bagong Pilipinas”—anchored on serbisyong mabilis, tapat, at nararamdaman—as the police force continues to protect the people and secure the nation against the spread of illegal drugs.
