Mayor Rex took center stage as he joined the open chair discussion of the Philippine Open Government Partnership (PH-OGP) Campaign on Friday in Legazpi City, Albay.

During the open chair discussion, Mayor Rex Oliva said, “LGU will play an indispensable and critical role in furtherance of this particular program of the government. We are mandated to promote the general welfare of and deliver basic services and facilities to our people. We really have to be accountable to any and all of our undertakings.”

He also shared some of the best practices of the City Government of Iriga where he emphasized the posting of the constitutional provision, “Public Office is a Public Trust,” in all city government offices, serving as a constant reminder to employees of their accountabilities and obligations as public servants. He also showcased the participation of CSOs in the City Development Council and other local special bodies where a record breaking of 246 CSOs and Cooperatives attended their convening.

DBM Secretary Amenah F. Pangandaman said that they see Iriga City as a potential candidate of OCP Local Program.

According to Mayor Rex, the Iriga City government is willing to be part of and will support the Philippine Open Government Partnership (PH-OGP) Local Program advocating for transparency and citizen engagement in governance.

OGPinas! is a national advocacy campaign on open government that aims to raise awareness about the Philippine Open Government Partnership (PH-OGP), especially at the local level as well as provide avenues and more channels of communication for government-civil society partnerships.

Mayor Rex is one of the 75 local chief executives to participate in the OG Pinas 2024 at the Oriental Hotel Legazpi City.
