On May 30, 2025, the Department of Social Welfare and Development Field Office V, through the SHIELD Against Child Labor Program, in partnership with the Local Government of Virac, Catanduanes successfully conducted an advocacy activity aimed to intensify the campaign to address the issue of child labor.
Thirty selected parents participated in the exercise, which aimed to improve their understanding of the idea of child labor and its long-term effects on both children and society. Additionally, the program inspired participants to take an active role in the community’s ongoing efforts to end child labor.
The project’s goal is to remove kids from the most harmful types of child labor by offering comprehensive and prompt interventions at the at the local level. The purpose of this project was to adhere to Republic Act 9231 and help achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Philippine Program against Child Labor (PPACL) commitments to remove one million children from child labor by 2025.
This collaboration marks another step toward our shared commitment to protecting the rights and well-being of every child.
