Masbate Governor Ricardo T Kho and 17 local chief executives (LCEs) from Masbate, Sorsogon and Camarines Norte completed the 1-Day DRRM Executive Course for LCEs and Local DRRM Councils (LDRRMCs) spearheaded by Office of Civil Defense (OCD) 5 and the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) RO 5 last February 6, 2026 at Vela Hotel, Legazpi City, Albay.
Joining the Masbate governor were LCEs from Masbate namely Mayor Arvin Vitrucio, Aroroy; Mayor Marco Martin M Cam, Batuan; Mayor Alvin C Adoptante, Cataingan; Mayor Jeffrey Justin T Talisic, Esperanza; Mayor Natividad Isabel R Magbalon, Milagros; Mayor Glenda L Villahermosa, Monreal; Mayor Mark R Antonio, Pio V Corpuz; Mayor Maria Vida E Bravo, San Fernando; and Mayor Felipe U Sanchez, Uson.
Sorgoson LCEs present during the training were Mayor Maria Minez R Hamor, Casiguran; Mayor Ronnel U Lim, Gubat; Mayor Catalina Grace B Hamor, Irosin; Mayor Maria Elena Ramona G Ragragio, Magallanes; Mayor Dennis A Sy-Reyes, Pilar; and Mayor Romeo D Domasian, Prieto Diaz. Paracale, Camarines Norte Mayor Romeo Y Moreno also joined the 3rd batch of the training due to conflict of schedule for the Camarines Norte group.
The Provincial DRRM Officer and deputy chief of Sorsogon Provincial DRRM Office represented Governor Edwin Hamor. Other LGUs representing their LCEs were Masbate City, Baleno, Balud, Cawayan, Claveria, Dimasalang, Mandaon, Palanas, Placer and San Pascual in Masbate; and Sorsogon City, Barcelona, Bulan, Bulusan, Castilla, Matnog and Santa Magdalena in Sorsogon.
During the training, speakers from OCD5 provided insights on the Philippine DRRM system, role of local government officials during disasters, DRRM plans and response management tools. The executive course focused on the managerial roles of local chief executives for DRRM.
Before ending the training, OCD5 Director Claudio L Yucot and DILG RO5 Regional Director Arnaldo Escober answered the queries of the LCEs regarding DRRM policies and procedures.
