In a celebratory program organized for the Albayano victors of the recently concluded Palarong Bicol 2024, Albay Gov. Grex Lagman has announced financial incentives for those who will get medals in this year’s Palarong Pambansa.
“So I wanted to give a motivation, the gold medalists will receive P25, 000.00, the silver medalists, 20, 000, and the bronze medalists, 15, 000,” Lagman said.
He added, “Importante po ‘tong Palarong Pambansa. Sabi ko kay Ma’am Nene, was there a time that we actually gave out cash incentives to the gold, silver and bronze medalists sa Palarong Pambansa, and she said yes.”
The governor also shared that the attending coaches will also receive the same amounts depending on their trained athlete, and assured that through his own pocket, from his foundation, he will give an additional sum 15, 000 to winning gold medalists, 10, 000 to silver medalists, and 5, 000 for bronze medalists.
“Mas malaki po iyong pwede niyong ma-receive. This is just for motivation. Ang mga atleta ay naturally motivated, pero tandaan niyo rin po na there will be many national sports scouts in Cebu, so hindi lang po medalya ang pwede niyong makuha,” he concluded.
The Governor also commended the hard work and dedication of the athletes to their respective sports disciplines, and spoke of incentives as a token of the province’s support and a reward for bringing honor to Albay.
