(Legazpi City, February 4, 2025) Acting Governor Baby Glenda Ong Bongao has committed to institutionalizing the implementation of four priority programs funded by quarry revenues.
The initiative aims to ensure the continuity of the Provincial Government of Albay’s newly launched programs for Albayanos: “Baybay para sa Pagkabuhay,” “Graba para sa Pag-eskwela,” “Basud para sa Salud,” and “Boulders para sa Albayano Elders.”
According to the governor, these programs have already been incorporated into the Provincial Government of Albay’s Annual Investment Plan. They will be subject to legislation to ensure their continued execution, particularly after her term ends.
Bongao expressed her intention to legislate these quarry-funded programs and voiced optimism about garnering support from the Sangguniang Panlalawigan ng Albay (SPA) members.
She emphasized that the implementation of these four priority programs aims to connect Albayanos more closely to the quarry, enabling them to develop a positive perspective on the issue by directly benefiting from its revenues.
